Paul Dickinson and Angela King

paul and angela

Angela and Paul have been singing together at Spalding Folk Club since 1984. They sing their own songs (mostly Angela’s, with a few tunes by Paul) and other people’s, such as Melissa Etheridge and Michelle Shocked. They like to sing traditional songs, too, especially heart-rending depressing ballads, but also heart-warming choruses. Paul adds the guitar, concertina and harmonies, and very occasionally, the fiddle. Angela likes to try out new songs by singing them to her goats but what they think about this has never been discovered. Somebody once summed them up as: “mellow vocals, imaginative guitar work and catchy harmonies both on their own compositions and a few established classics.” They have performed at folk clubs, pubs, churches, beer festivals, village halls, libraries, parties, theatres, live on the radio (ok, just Radio Lincolnshire) and once on TV and  are open to any reasonable offer to play anywhere else.

As well as writing songs and looking after goats, Angela makes decorative rag rugs, one of which features on the cover of the latest CD. She exhibited a selection of this work at Stamford Arts Centre in 2001 and at Corby Glen in 2004. This is the bit that's on the CD:

All the tracks on the CD were written by Angela except Old Abandoned Music Hall and Sweet Violet which were written by Sharon Childs, and Spring Song where Paul wrote the tune. You can listen to a few samples by clicking on the links:
